Pilot project to help speed the processing of new applications


The Government of Canada announced another project aiming to speed up processing for Federeal Skilled Worker independent immigrant visa application. Under this pilot project, a centralized intake office will be established at CIC’s Case Processing Centre in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Ottawa, September 5, 2008 — The Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, announced today a pilot project that will centralize the intake of applications from prospective immigrants applying under the federal skilled worker category.[Source]

Aside from deploying for staff to Visa Offices to help speed up the process, the Government of Canada proposed and was passed into law the amendments to Canada's Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. The Immigration Minister is expected to release the list of immigration priorities few months anytime soon.
