Education Credential Assessment for Physicians | Federal Skilled Worker Program

Here's the step-by-step process for Physicians seeking an Educational Credential Assessment:

1. Create an account with physiciansapply.ca.  For some reason, it seems to have problem with Google Chrome, so you may want to try using Firefox or other Internet browser.

2. To create an account you will have to pay a non-refundable account fee amounting to $260.  You need a credit card to pay the fee.

3. Create a Source Verification Request (SVR) for each international medical credential you are required to have source verified.  There is a document fee amounting to $145 you need to pay online using a credit card.

4. Submit the following documents to MCC:

5. After submitting the documents, log on to physiciansapply.ca  and request (under Other Service Requests) an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report. Payment of the ECA report fee ($98) will be required. 

6. The ECA report will be issued after the completion of the source verification process.

Important Information: MPNP - Skilled Worker Overseas Stream

Effective, August 1, 2014 until the end of the year, the MPNP will not accept new applications to MPNP - Skilled Worker Overseas stream.   People who wish to apply to this stream, must submit their applications by August 1, 2014 or wait until 2015.  The MPNP - Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream and application that are part of a Strategic Recruitment Initiative will continue to be accepted all year.

Why the need for a temporary pause?
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has allocated Manitoba with a limit of 5000 total nominations for all skilled worker and business streams of the MPNP.   Currently, Manitoba has received more than enough applications needed to meet the 2014 nomination limit, with the largest, and fastest growing volume in the MPNP – Skilled Worker Overseas stream.

Finally, an updated from Citizenship and Immigration Canada!  This CIC page was last modified June 6, 2014 and the posted information about applications received was as of May 4, 2014.  Please note that the number of complete federal skilled worker applications received is just an estimate - not a real-time tally.

So far, it looks like Financial and Investment Analysts (NOC 1112) will be the first to reach the cap with 43 complete applications received.

As of May 1, 2014, there is an overall cap of 25,500 for new federal skilled worker applications. This includes a cap of 500 applications from PhD students. There are also sub-caps of 1,000 for each of the 50 eligible occupations.
