Quebec Government Passed Bill 9: Thousands of applications cancelled

Bill 9, an Act to increase Québec's socio-economic prosperity and adequately meet labour market needs through successful immigrant integration was recently passed by the Quebec Government and as a result, thousands of applications will be cancelled.

Under this Act, applications for Quebec selection certificates for which no decision had been rendered before the Act was assented to are now closed. In accordance with Article 20 of the Law, the Minister will return the paid required fees to the applicant. The procedure for obtaining this refund will be communicated to the persons concerned shortly.

How will Bill 9 affect your application?

  • All applications submitted before 2018 (without decision yet, regardless of the stage of application)  are now cancelled. Government Application Fee will be refunded. You will receive an email from MIDI regarding the process of refund
  • Those with CSQ already will not be affected
