PR TRAVEL DOCUMENT
Permanent Resident Travel Document is a document issued by the Government of Canada to permanent residents who are outside of Canada and need to return to Canada but do not have a valid Permanent Resident (PR) card. Essentially, the PRTD allows permanent residents to re-enter Canada after traveling abroad.
You can apply for a permanent resident travel document if you:
-
are a permanent resident
-
do not have valid PR card
-
are outside Canada, and
-
will return to Canada by airplane, boat, train or bus
If you find yourself in a situation where you need to return to Canada without a valid PR card, applying for a PRTD is the solution.
