Once you are required by the Visa Office to update your documents prior to decision on your permanent residence visa application, one of the documents you need to submit is is the NBI Clearance.
Since a large number of our clients are overseas contract workers, one of the commonly asked question is how to get their NBI Clearance from abroad.
Here are the instructions from NBI website:
To get an NBI Clearance from abroad, here's what you should do:
You can visit the nearest Philippine Consulate Office and asked for a Fingerprint Card Form.
-Your maiden surname (father’s surname).
-Your husband’s surname.
-Your first name or given name.
-Your maternal surname (family name of your mother)
Upon completion of this requirement, send back your form to NBI and enclose Money Order in the sum of Php 200.00 or any currency/bankdraft of its equivalent which is negotiable in the Philippines payable to the Director, National Bureau of Investigation, Taft Avenue, Ermita 1000 Manila, Philippines.
NBI will mail to you the corresponding clearance certificate after they have processed your application papers.
Upon receipt of your clearance certificate, please examine it for the presence of the embossed NBI DRY SEAL at its lower left portion, the clearance is invalid without it. Also, you must affix your clear and properly taken THUMBPRINT on the space provided for it in the clearance certificate before submitting it to your end-user, otherwise, your clearance will be subjected for further verification/authentication and will cause the delay of your immigration requirements.
To RENEW your NBI Clearance from abroad, here's what you should do:
Just send your previously issued clearance, attach a latest copy of your 2”x 2” photograph (white background), taken within three (3) months and enclose Money Order in the sum of Php 200.00 or any currency/bankdraft of its equivalent which is negotiable in the Philippines payable to the Director, National Bureau of Investigation, Taft Avenue, Ermita 1000 Manila, Philippines.
You may also send your authorized representative in any of the following Offices
To process your NBI Clearance, together with your previously issued clearance, attach a latest copy of your 2”x 2” photograph (white background), taken within three (3) months.
Update the information that needs to be updated. NBI accepts changes in address and purpose, else write Same Data if there are no changes.
If there would be changes in your NAME, DATE OF BIRTH and PLACE OF BIRTH, NBI will require you to fill-up a new application form and attached a photocopy of your birth certificate.
You can visit the nearest Philippines Consulate Office and asked for a fingerprint card form to write all personal data. Request the assistance/endorsement of the nearest Philippines Consulate Office for the police agency in your locality to have your fingerprints impressed (ROLLED IMPRESSION) on the appropriate spaces.
The officer/person who fingerprinted you should sign his name, state his official designation on the space provided for the purpose in the card. Then send it back to us.
*NBI Kiosks – does not accept renewal of clearance handed by your representative, even without corrections, they will take your picture personally. It does not accept any correction in NAME, DATE OF BIRTH and PLACE OF BIRTH.

just to clarify, it is not in taft where you get the nbi clearance now, it is in monumento. additionally, it is not just 200 pesos you have to pay. YOU NEED TO PAY MORE! i had mine requested and my sister-in-law shelled out more than 1500 pesos. i guess the philippine system remains to be corrupt to this point.
You still need fingerprint even if you have your previous clearance.
kailangan po ba ng work permit para mbigyan ng form?at gano ktagal magprocess ng nbi sa atin?kasi kailangan na nmin isubmit papers nmin sa candian embassy manila bago mag october 15.
you dont need any finger print if you have your old NBI copy. i already renewed my NBI before. if your name is not been "hit" then i think you can have it agad but unlike mine my name is "hit" so i need to wait for almost 2 weeks before my NBI will be released.
Hi there,please help.I need to renew my NBI clearnce,i have sent my old NBI copy along with other requirements.My sister went to the NBI office in my province because my friends do the same.But this time the NBI Office in the province said,i need to go to the Philippine Consulate near my place o fill-up the form and fingerprints as well.I have beent calling the Phil. Consulate in Edmonton and Vancouver as well but i can't reach them.Finally, reached the answering machine in Edmonton where i left a message but until now no response yet.Vancouver said they don't have the form.What do i have to do.Can i still ask my sister to go to Manila instead to apply for it?What is the exact address and phone number as well.I need your help guys.

Hello there,please help I need your suggestions I need to renew my NBI clearance i already sent my old NBI copy to the Philippines (Cebu)but the officer said I need to renew my NBI clearance from the start so I already have this fingerprint card form,but as I go along to your page i have red that I just to send my old NBI copy with 2x2 pic and the money 200 php.I am confused on which to follow.Please help me.
nabago na po ba ang procedure ng pag renew ng nbi clearance, coz i sent my old nbi to my sister for renewal and when she got there in the nbi office, according to them i had to fill up the fingerprint card form, but unfortunately the said form is out of stock in the Philippine consulate and when it is available it will be on first come first serve basis. what if theres a millions of people waiting for that form and i had only a month left to submit my requiremets in the cic. according to the nbi officer their website is not updated for all the procedure that they had been change. people get confuse coz whats in the website is not updated and when they get their nbi for renewal they will have a hard time in doing it..
grabe kahit saan ang pinas ang kakaiba....may record ka na nga lahat lahat,back to basic again....un consul dito sa vancouver canada,useless din kasi milya milya ang layo natin para makarating tpos walang form kasi konti lang daw ang pnddla sa kanila....OMG NBI PHILIPPINES.bulok na nga ang sistema,red tape and may katapat pang presyo bawat papeles aasikasuhin dyan...maawa naman kayo kaya walang asenso ang bansa pinanggalingan naming mga OFW...

Atty. Gatdula at mga Sir at Mam na nakakaalam sa sa pagbago ng sistema sa pag proseso ng NBI CLEARANCE opinion lang po. Sana po bago nyo ipinatupad yan nagpaprint kayu ng maraming-maraming APPLICATION FORM kasi po yan po ang kasalukuyang problema ng mga overseas worker.
KAKULANGAN SA APPLICATION FORM. Mga matatagal n po kayu sa pwestong yan kaya dapat po alam nyo n ang pasikot-sikot at resulta ng bagong sistema. Kaya po di nyo maalis n magtaka ang mga aplikante n hirap makakuha nyan.

RED TAPE. kahit saan tlga bulok parin systema ng pilipinas! nakakairita itong consul sa EDMONTON AT VANCOUVER. REQUIREMENT nila ung fingerprint card form, pero sila mismo OUT OF STOCK. kailangan ako pa magpakuha sa Pinas. EH PARA SAN PA KAYO? Para bang sinabing o yan mag sulat ka dito sa papel, ay pero wala kaming ball pen pala. pahirapan.

Hi i just got my NBI clearance last week, aparently their new system which they called biometrics did not impressed me, paurong ang sistema, imbes na bumilis ang serbisyo lalong bumagal, lahat halos ng kumukuha ng clearance may "hit" and have to go back after 2 weeks, pano kasi di nila pinag aralan mabuti yung bago nilang so called computerized system, isang pangalan lang ang matulad sayo like kung Alice ka, at may iba pang Alice lahat yung auto hit na agad..susme, siguro yung mga nakakuha ng clearance the same day eh yung may mga pangalan na out of this world, like kordapya daculcol...hayyy super palpak talaga!!!!
talagang ganyan ang pilipinas,puro magnanakaw ang nasa puwesto,hindi nila iniisip ang mga tao na nagpasweldo sa kanila....
yung form na yan sana nilagay nyo na sa website di na kelangan pumunta kung saan saan paano kung malayo ang pagkukunan. may website naman nbi bakit di nyo ilagay yung form at iprint nalang ng mga nangangailangan.
Tiga Toronto canada po ako...wala naman problema nong nagpunta ako sa philippine consulate nagbayad ako ng $28 then self address envelope after 4 days bumalik na sa kin ang fingerprints ko..ang problema sa Pinas registered mail ko lahat mga requirements, including a bank draft of $200, that was Sept 7, 2011... November na wala pa so I called NBI clearance sa Pinas, nakausap ko mismo si Julie Macalit..sabi niya sa kin na send na daw...2 months na wala pa ako natanggap so sabi ko i need another one..mag expire na ang application ko para sa visa application ko sa US, sabi sa kin send ko daw siya ng 1,500 pesos sa western union para pang DHL ..that was last week..binigay pa nya ang cell number nya..I sent her 2,000 pesos para lang tapusin, ngayun naman di ko ma contact pag call ko cell nya..naka off...pag sa opis nasa labasan daw..tawag na lang daw ulit ako...ano ba yan...di ba nila alam kailangan natin mga ito kaya pursigi sa pagtawag? wala pa konsensya mga tao sa Pinas?

Wala sa systema yan kundi sa mga tao (kapwa pinoy)... Other words ugaling pinoy na kung para sa kapwa pinoy mahigpit at kailangang sungitan pa pagdating sa ibang lahi sobrang amo... Siguro mga taong yan panay pa sa simbahan pero pagdating na sa labas wala na... kungbaga santong kabayo... nakakatuwa talaga...Simba ng simba sama-sama naman... Tiisin lang ang mga ganiyang tao dahil hanggang sa ibabaw lang ng mundo yan... Isa lang naman patutungohan natin kung di sa buhay na walang hanggan... sa impyerno ang bagsak ng mga yan...
Walang form sa Vancouver consul and from august 2011 and out all the time. Dapat nbi merong Form na pwedeng maprint at mapadala sa phil. Online Info dap at ay laging updated. This is big money maker for nbi and no customer service what so ever. Kaya walang asenso sa bay an maraming magnanakaw. Si manny paq dap at and maging presidente
I do agree with all your comments especially here in EDMONTON, I never been in the Consulate without coming back because of lack of consistencies in their rules/requirements and I just been there today for my NBI and was really UPSET and ANNOYED.First and foremost, still no NBI forms and I can attest to that since late last year, coz my friend asked for it ,it's good I had one (from the Phils) when I asked my sister to send me that was more than a year ago. My question is if our ordinary family can ask for forms in the NBI office in the Philippines and mailed to us and received on time, how much more if the PHILIPPINE CONSULATE will be the one to request for it ? And can they not anticipate that there is not enough supply anymore for the high demands? Dont tell me quota...quota lang din bawat bansa ang pwedeng i supply. ng NBI.That's why we have this consulate (supposed to be) to help us but they are making our lives more difficult, double work and even more expensive and makes the delay of our paper works. As much i don't want to comment anymore kasi sariling bansa at kababayan natin ang namamalakad dito, kaya lang ako yata ang magkakasakit sa puso...Upon arriving home this afternoon(kahit mag na night pa ako) I have to look for the Phil Consule website again para mabasa ang mga updates , also mashare ko naman sa mga friends ko na mag aapply pa lang kung ano bago ...but I can't find specific one ,the one that appears is just the singing of the Phil National Anthem then press enter and will see Consule's details and even the address is still not updated.I browsed all the liitle informations in that page and nothing really put me of any news of our Edmonton Philippine Consulate. Please if its my fault asking then give me the full details so i'll be informed of our where and what abouts...Promise to read everything before taking any actions. My correction and apology (on my previous comment dated Feb 23) sa Toronto pala if you authenticated your NBI (Consule sig) eh $28.75 to be mailed to you within 4 days then $40.00 on same day. Pasensya na po...just an info to everybody but if you have the right website for all these changes let us all updated para naman we are informed before we go to the consulate and not just listen to sabi sabi. Salamat po!!!
there are some changes sa policy ngayon because of a new NBI director. Atty. Gatdula got involve in a kidnapping case that kick him off out of the NBI.
Hi, I studied in Philippine for a year from Korea and now I live in Canada, got engaged and had baby and now I'm trying to get NBI clearance from philippine. But I believe when I left philippine, I had to get NBI and Immigration of Canada do not accept this old NBI. Do I need to go to Toronto and get the new one with finger print and all that or Can I request the new one? Please give some advice! My email is sheminji@msn.com
hi! i just wanna ask if what am i going to do about this matter, I'm done getting my NBI clearance after 2 weeks since i applied but when i saw it, there's a discrepancy of my birth date, as far as i remembered i filled it up correctly, maybe it's there fault in typing but sad to say it's me who suffered.
