Student Direct Stream (SDS) Eligibility Requirements | How to Apply for Study Visa/Study Permit

UPDATE: SDS is now applied ONLINE, open to all DLIs and IELTS may either be GT or Academic. Applicants with dependents may apply apply under SDS.

Study Direct Stream (SDS) was successfully launched today in Manila.  International Student applicants from the Philippines may now avail of the streamlined process for the study visa/study permit application.

This afternoon, during the EduCanada Colleges and Institutes Orientation Seminar, the Study Direct Stream (SDS) will be launched. SDS is the streamlined study permit process which would mean faster visa processing and most likely, a higher approval rate.  It's like an "Express Entry" for International Students.

Can I apply for Study Visa even if I have an Active Express Entry Profile?

In applying for any Temporary Resident Visa, whether to work, visit, or study, you have to convince the Visa Officer that you have strong ties in your home country - reason that you will be returning and will not be violating the conditions of your stay in Canada, if given a chance.  Otherwise, your visa application will not be approved.
