Most of these clients filed their application in 2004. Yes, back then the rules were tough and the processing period is long. But that didn't stop them from filing their application. That's because they know and understand the value of planning.

People never plan to fail. They just fail to plan.

Now, you have to ask yourself: What will be your situation five years from now? Do you see a bright future? How you plan to give your family a better quality of life?

Here's a suggestion. Send your resume to aapuntar@go2canada.com for FREE ASSESSMENT! Find out if you are eligible under the new Federal Skilled Worker Program. Unlike those clients who filed in 2004, you don't have to wait for five years to get your visa. Processing period is now faster for those included in the list of high demand occupations. You may immigrate to Canada within 6 to 12 months!

Dreaming for a better quality of life is one thing. Doing something to make it happen is another.

What is it gonna be?

Our next visa party will be on July 11, 2009, 2pm at Max's Restaurant Baclaran, Paranaque City. Registration fee is P500 for single and P700 for married.

Attend our visa party and learn your options!

Is IELTS Exam Mandatory for PR Visa Application?

The answer is NO. IELTS Examination is not mandatory.

To show proof of language ability, you have two options:

  • 1. Take the IELTS Examination. Information regarding the IELTS examination may be found HERE.

  • 2. Submit a written explanation detailing training in and usage of English Language. You must provide supporting documents like training certificate and other certifications showing the use of English language (i.e. from school registrar, employer, etc)

  • The difference?

Your IELTS examination result is conclusive and the other option will be subject to Visa Officer's evaluation. If you can clearly establish your language proficiency level by means of alternative documentation, you don't need to take the IELTS examination.

But what if you have submitted alternative documents and you were still required to take the IELTS examination?

In that case, the most logical thing to do is take the IELTS examination!

Prior to the implementation of your Simplified Application Process (Sept 2006), all original documents are being required at the time of filing of application. That includes the proof on your language proficiency. But prior to making a decision, the Visa Officer will require you to update certain documents like your employment certificate, NBI Clearance, personal net worth statement, etc. You may also be encourage to take the IELTS examination, as it is the best proof of language skills.

What happens if you don't take the IELTS examination?

Based on experience, you will be given only 8 points on the average. We actually have a physician client who was given only 8 points! But of course, we made an appeal and successfully won the case.

The maximum for English Language proficiency is 16 points. Below is the equivalent points of your IELTS Examination result.

To get the maximum points for each area, your IELTS Score for each area must be at least 7.0.

If you have a pending PR Visa application and is still waiting for the embassy notice to update your documents, it is best that you prepare yourself for the IELTS Examination.

These are some useful links to help you on your IELTS Examination:

  • IELTS Help Now

  • Free IELTS Site (lots of helpful materials)

  • IELTS Test Review

  • It is best if you will take an IELTS Review and Test Simulation before writing the IELTS Exxam even if it is not mandatory.

    NBI Clearance

Once you are required by the Visa Office to update your documents prior to decision on your permanent residence visa application, one of the documents you need to submit is is the NBI Clearance.

Since a large number of our clients are overseas contract workers, one of the commonly asked question is how to get their NBI Clearance from abroad.

Here are the instructions from NBI website:

To get an NBI Clearance from abroad, here's what you should do:

You can visit the nearest Philippine Consulate Office and asked for a Fingerprint Card Form.

  • Fingerprint Card Form – fill up the personal data called for on both sides of this card truthfully and legibly.

  • Request the assistance/endorsement of the nearest Philippines Consulate Office for the police agency in your locality to have your fingerprints impressed (ROLLED IMPRESSION) on the appropriate spaces. The officer/person who fingerprinted you should sign his name state his official designation on the space provided for the purpose in the card.

  • In case you are a married woman, the order of writing your name is as follows:
    -Your maiden surname (father’s surname).
    -Your husband’s surname.
-Your first name or given name.
-Your maternal surname (family name of your mother)

  • Attach a latest copy of your 2”x2” photograph (white background), taken within three (3) months before this application at the appropriate box in the fingerprint card form.

  • Upon completion of this requirement, send back your form to NBI and enclose Money Order in the sum of Php 200.00 or any currency/bankdraft of its equivalent which is negotiable in the Philippines payable to the Director, National Bureau of Investigation, Taft Avenue, Ermita 1000 Manila, Philippines.

NBI will mail to you the corresponding clearance certificate after they have processed your application papers.

Upon receipt of your clearance certificate, please examine it for the presence of the embossed NBI DRY SEAL at its lower left portion, the clearance is invalid without it. Also, you must affix your clear and properly taken THUMBPRINT on the space provided for it in the clearance certificate before submitting it to your end-user, otherwise, your clearance will be subjected for further verification/authentication and will cause the delay of your immigration requirements.

To RENEW your NBI Clearance from abroad, here's what you should do:

Just send your previously issued clearance, attach a latest copy of your 2”x 2” photograph (white background), taken within three (3) months and enclose Money Order in the sum of Php 200.00 or any currency/bankdraft of its equivalent which is negotiable in the Philippines payable to the Director, National Bureau of Investigation, Taft Avenue, Ermita 1000 Manila, Philippines.

You may also send your authorized representative in any of the following Offices

  • NBI Clearance Center in Carriedo

  • NBI Satellite Offices

  • NBI Regional / District Offices

  • To process your NBI Clearance, together with your previously issued clearance, attach a latest copy of your 2”x 2” photograph (white background), taken within three (3) months.

Update the information that needs to be updated. NBI accepts changes in address and purpose, else write Same Data if there are no changes.

If there would be changes in your NAME, DATE OF BIRTH and PLACE OF BIRTH, NBI will require you to fill-up a new application form and attached a photocopy of your birth certificate.

You can visit the nearest Philippines Consulate Office and asked for a fingerprint card form  to write all personal data. Request the assistance/endorsement of the nearest Philippines Consulate Office for the police agency in your locality to have your fingerprints impressed (ROLLED IMPRESSION) on the appropriate spaces.

The officer/person who fingerprinted you should sign his name, state his official designation on the space provided for the purpose in the card. Then send it back to us.

*NBI Kiosks – does not accept renewal of clearance handed by your representative, even without corrections, they will take your picture personally. It does not accept any correction in NAME, DATE OF BIRTH and PLACE OF BIRTH.

Bonding and togetherness: formula for survival

It all started with an aspiration to be able to give her children a better shot of experiencing better opportunities. With this, Yolly thought that a viable way to do this is to try living in another country that will give her children better education and better life, eventually. It was at this juncture that she went around the town until she bumped into a seminar being conducted by CIC.

After contemplating on the thought of settling in Canada, Yolly finally decided that the only way to realize this dream is to work on it. Hence, she filed her application in 2001 with the Canadian Embassy.

Considering her professional experience and education, she believes that she can make it in Canada. But along the way, there were a lot of stumbling blocks. She never realized that she would face so many interrogations from the Visa Officer particularly in the case of her husband. Her husband’s absence caused a lot of complications on their application to the extent that it almost caused the end of fulfilling her dream.

Two years after leaving the country, Yolly has finally settled into their newly-bought unit for her three children. Even if it would mean spending most of her income, she believes that living in Canada has opened a new chapter in her life and that of her children. Though there is the absence of a man in their family, she feels complete considering that her children have already adjusted to their new lifestyle. They have each other, after all.

Even though she missed Philippines due to her loved ones, she would never exchange it for anything else. With her kids around her, she finds no time to experience homesickness. “As of now, we are happy and we have no time to experience homesick dahil kasama ko naman po mga kids ko, kahit kmi lang dito e masaya naman po,” she relates.

Now, she is enjoying her job QA Coordinator in a food company at CS14.50/hr. She is blessed to be able to find a job that is in line with her work experience and learning new stuff such as labeling requirement, allergen and nutritional information on food.[Gateway to Canada]
